Location

Many people choose to come to the Ceiriog Valley for the walks that are available in the area. Established routes exist including the Ceiriog Valley walk which traverses the entire length of the valley in seven stages.

Pontfadog itself is less than a 4km detour from the Offa's Dyke Path which runs along the English border.

Although the Valley today is green, pleasant and abundant with wildlife, many traces of the industrial past are evident. Next to the Post Office is a waiting room for the Glyn Valley Tramway. Visitors may be disappointed if waiting for long, as the narrow gauge tramway was operational only between 1873 and 1935. It served the many mines, quarries and mills of the region and moved coal, mail and general goods. The waiting room is small but beautifully maintained by the Glyn Valley Tramway group and contains photos and information about the tramway in its heyday.
